The Office of His Majesty King Misuzulu kaZwelithini has addressed the recent public circulation of private video recordings featuring him and Queen Nomzamo Myeni. These recordings, shared without the King’s consent, depict personal conversations that occurred in a private family setting.
Acting Spokesperson for the Royal House, Mpikayise Buthelezi, clarified that the recordings are historical and do not reflect the current dynamics within the Royal Household. This clarification came as Misuzulu and Myeni were engaged in official duties at KwaKhangelamankengane Royal Palace, where they interacted with a delegation from Build One South Africa, led by Mr. Mmusi Maimane.
Buthelezi highlighted that the ongoing joint participation of the King and Queen in official engagements signifies their commitment to the Zulu Monarchy and the nation, indicating that the issues portrayed in the recordings have been superseded by reconciliation and responsibility.
Acknowledging the emotional nature of the remarks made in the recordings, His Majesty expressed deep regret for any pain or embarrassment caused to the Royal Family, amakhosi, the Royal Household, religious leaders, and the Zulu Nation. He emphasized the importance of leadership characterized by wisdom, patience, and respect.
Misuzulu has dispatched a delegation of senior Royal House Elders to engage with Unyazi Lwezulu of the Nazareth Baptist Church, conveying his sincere remorse regarding the statements made during the private exchange and reaffirming respect for the church.
Buthelezi urged the public to consider the context of the recordings and to evaluate the King’s leadership based on his continued service and dedication to the Zulu Kingdom. The Office also called for a cessation of the circulation of private material, appealing for understanding and unity.
