Kovid Tears : Interview with Daniella Williams

By hoaf  Published On January 12, 2021

We interviewed Daniella Williams, one of the recipients of our Kovid Tears covid-19 aid.

Daniella highlighted the challenges she faced, (and keep facing) during this pandemic as a sickle cell anemia patient.

Sickle Cell patients are categorized as more vulnerable to covid-19 complications which means they require more care and precaution to be taken during this period. This posed a lot of additional problems ranging from the inability to socialize, see friends or go out of the house.

On the positive side, she noted that vulnerable persons, like herself, received frequent information and updates from the NHS who also conducted regular health checks and provided essential items and food, which made life more bearable during these periods.

She sadly informed us about the loss of a few members of her sickle cell anemia support group due to covid-19 complications. This included the loss of an 8 year old child.

We provided her with a mattress and electric blanket as part of our Kovid Tears covid-19 support program.

We hope to reach out to more people in our community and offer some form of support in these trying times.

We believe, together, we are stronger.
